Embracing Change: An Update on Jaimie’s Managed Transition

During this season of change, I wanted to take a moment to update you on the progress of my managed transition, which officially began on September 1. Over the past month, we've navigated some unforeseen circumstances, including unexpected staffing changes which required adjustments to my transition plan. My focus has been on supporting Nate as he takes on additional responsibilities while I transition out of my role as Executive Director. His dedication and the support of other church leadership have been instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition.

In the upcoming weeks, I will dedicate my time to critical tasks, including documentation related to the creation of the 2024 budget, organizing essential documentation for building management, and communicating with key community partners about my transition. As we enter the next phase, you may notice my absence on Sunday mornings and reduced on-site presence throughout the week. Rest assured, my commitment to staying engaged throughout my transition remains the same. However, my role is shifting from being the driving force behind much of what happens at FCCBC to supporting others who now hold those responsibilities.

The shift towards primarily working from home offers an opportunity to be more present for my family. It allows me to support Isaac as he navigates the challenges of middle school, a critical phase in his development. Additionally, it complements my wife Ashley's role as Chair of the Art Department at Albion College which requires additional time and energy from her. This arrangement also allows me time to focus on my final semester of seminary.

When we reached the end of my transition, we will host a ritual in worship to mark the end of my time on staff at FCC and the start of a newly formed covenant relationship between us. Although my role as Executive Director is ending, I plan to remain actively connected to FCCBC as a member. I hope to preach, lead small groups, and contribute my community connections to create volunteer opportunities. However, I will take a break from active engagement for a time. giving leadership space to evolve and grow without my immediate influence.

The transition between my work at FCCBC and my next job has presented its challenges. This liminal space requires discipline and intentionality as I engage in multiple efforts in different directions. I am immensely grateful for the support of my family, FCCBC staff, Nate, and the broader community at FCCBC.

With deep gratitude and warm regards--Jaimie
