Church Council: Providing Vision and Leadership Support

Every church is organized uniquely. For some churches, their organization, power structures and decision-making processes are determined by their denomination. Our denomination, the United Church of Christ, highly values the role of each congregation in determining how their local church will be organized. Since calling together the entire congregation for every decision is not practical, the Church Council is entrusted with much of the work and discernment of business and spiritual oversight in between the January and June Congregational meetings. The twelve member Church Council is elected by the congregation at the June meeting each year.

Minutes from Congregational meetings are posted in our private Facebook group and are included in the digital version of the Congregationalist Newsletter. Hard copies of these minutes can be requested at the Welcome Center. In addition, a current roster of Church Council members (which includes contact information), can be provided upon request by the FCCBC Office. You can also view a current list of members at FCCBC.org/council.
