Hallowtide 2021 at FCCBC

Every year as the nights grow long in the Northern Hemisphere and the “veil between the worlds” grows thin, as the old stories go, cultures around the world create spaces for holding their departed loved ones in memory and celebration. The Christian tradition is no different, and we mark this sacred time at the beginning of November with All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day, also known as “Hallowtide.”

During Hallowtide, we remember those ancestors in faith who have walked our path ahead of us and now cheer us on from the other side of the gulf of death. We also remember those whom we have loved in this lifetime and see no longer.

This year, we will be creating a space to offer memories and prayers, or ofrenda, in our sanctuary as part of our communal celebration of those we love and see no longer. We invite you to bring in a photograph and a memento of your loved ones to place on our ofrenda. Please bring your photograph and memento to the church by or on October 31st, and join us for our All Saints’ Celebration in worship on Sunday, November 7th!
