Advent & Christmas 2022: From Generation to Generation…
The stories, scriptures, and traditions of the Christmas season have been passed down to us throughout the generations. Many of us enter this season with a swell of memories and emotions as vast as the cultural and religious rituals this holiday holds. Like a tapestry woven throughout time, the Christmas story weaves us in—to remember how God has shown up in the past, to continue the work of collective liberation, to behold the presence of God in flesh and bone.
Our Advent theme is also a call to action: what are we being called to generate or bring forth? What have your ancestors and those who have come before you passed on for you to continue? Considering the many ways we embody, remember, and tell the story of Christ’s birth, which rituals hold the most meaning for you? What about this season will you pass on to the next generation?
Our Advent & Christmas series From Generation to Generation… from the clergy and artists at A Sanctified Art reminds us of the ways our lives, histories, actions, and stories are interconnected and woven together. The work of God is always unfolding—in and through us. This Advent, may you remember that you belong—to a story etched into the wrinkles of time, to generations that have come before and will come after, to a love that won’t let you go. Join us for the first Sunday of Advent on November 27th!
Join us this for these Advent & Christmas experiences:
Each Sunday during Advent, join us at 10AM in-person or live via Facebook streaming for festive Advent worship exploring the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love as we tell and re-tell the Advent story from generation to generation.
After worship each Sunday at 11:30AM, join us for our Advent Visio Divina art & bible study! Once again, the artists and clergy of A Sanctified Art have created artwork of incredible depth and beauty to guide our Advent and Christmas journey this year. Visio Divina, Latin for “divine seeing,” is a method of meditation, reflection, and prayer through a process of intentional seeing. Through engaging visio divina with the art, and by sharing our reflections with one another, we'll discover a new dimension of meaning and depth as the Divine speaks to our hope and our longing through these artists' work.
On the evening of Wednesday, December 21st at 7PM, we’ll gather for a special Longest Night service on the winter solstice, where we will have time to make our home in the dark as we await for the dawning of the new light. This service is a beloved tradition in our community and offers healing balm and words of comfort for all those who are carrying heavy loads this year. This service will feature candlelight, contemplative chant & stillness, and anointing for healing of soul and body.
On the evening of Saturday, December 24th at 7PM, we invite you to bring family and friends and join us for a festival service of carols, candlelight, and communion to tell the Christmas story once again from generation to generation!
On Sunday, December 25th, we will not have any in-person services. Instead, there is a special virtual worship experience that Pr. Nate and our worship team are putting together for you to celebrate at home with your families and loved ones wherever you may find yourself on the 25th.
