Fall 2023 Series: Renewed Resonance
Saint Augustine said, “the one who sings, prays twice over.”
This fall, we’re exploring some of the songs and canticles of the First and Second Testaments, songs which have kept the story of God’s presence and mercy alive and burning in the hearts of countless women and men.
The ancient lyrics we’ll explore in this series have not just been fodder for prayer, study, and inspiration.
Morning by morning, century by century, our forebears in faith took up these songs to sing themselves into resonance with the renewed reality God is manifesting in our midst—as do billions of Jews and Christians still today.
We’ll explore how their ancestral cadences harmonize our contemporary longing for a world that is more beautiful, more peaceful, and more just, as they have for millennia.
Together, we’ll experience their magic anew as we rediscover our right and our responsibility to learn these time-tested songs of power, love, and wisdom—and to sing them in our own new key.
As a new practice in our worship together during this season, we will offer healing prayer with anointing for all those suffering from sickness of body, mind, or spirit on the fourth Sunday of each month.
