First Congregational Church of Battle Creek (fccbc.org) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Operations Coordinator to join our team. Our church, deeply rooted in the progressive Christian faith tradition, is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all individuals, regardless of their background or identity. As we undertake a significant transition project to transform our historic facility into a hub for arts, culture, and spirituality, we are looking for someone who can adapt to changing demands, ensure the efficient operations of our physical space, and continue cultivating the vibrant network of community partnerships which are crucial to this project.
Position Details:
Title: Operations Coordinator
Organizational Focus: Administration of Building Functions
Classification: Full Time, Exempt
Reports To: Pastor (direct supervisor);
Church Council & Building Steering Committee (project stakeholders)Compensation: $45,000-$55,000 annually + benefits
Position Focus and Summary: As our Operations Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day operations of our church building. This multifaceted role involves overseeing building and administrative staff, stewarding and expanding the Community Partner Program, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the overall efficiency of our building operations. What You’ll Be Doing:
Staff Coordination and Oversight:
Supervise and provide direction to building and administrative staff, including janitorial, hospitality, maintenance, and event support personnel
Schedule and allocate tasks to ensure seamless operations and excellent service delivery
Assist in recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of staff as needed
Community Partner Program:
Implement and manage the Community Partner Program, which includes overseeing relationships with organizations leasing space in the building
Serve as the primary point of contact for Community Partners, addressing their needs and ensuring their lease agreements and memorandums of understanding are upheld
Collaborate with Community Partners to foster a positive and cooperative atmosphere within the building
Manage lease agreements, memorandums of understanding, renewals, and rent collection processes
Handle tenant inquiries and oversee move-in and move-out procedures
Reporting and Communication:
Report regularly to the Building Steering Committee and Church Council on building operations, program implementation, and staff performance
Collaborate with the Admin Team of Church Council to develop and monitor operational budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility
Facilitate communication between building and administrative staff, Community Partners, building stakeholders, and church leadership
Support the Building Steering Committee in creating operational policies that support the immediate and long term goals of the organization
Event Management Support:
Coordinate and schedule event support staff for functions and activities within the building
Ensure that events run smoothly by providing support and resolving issues as they arise
Collaborate with event organizers to meet their specific needs and requirements
Janitorial/Maintenance Staff Management:
Direct janitorial staff to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the building
Prioritize cleaning and maintenance tasks to address immediate needs and long-term maintenance goals
We Expect You To Have:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred).
5+ years of leadership/ministry experience.
Working knowledge of, and comfort with, the progressive Christian faith tradition and theology.
Working understanding of equity and privilege pertaining to the radical welcome and inclusion of people of all races, faiths, real or perceived gender identities, a variety of sexual orientations, class, and ability.
