Epiphany Series 2025: Wake Up!
Epiphany is a season of waking up, of new realizations, of new ways of seeing the world. In many ways, the world of Galilee was just like our world today—powers and politicians jockeyed for status and security, exhausted people accepted oppressive structures as the norm, and folks at the fringes were either forgotten or actively silenced.
Yet in the midst of this grueling reality, Jesus’ presence shocked people awake, defied expectations, and scandalized the Powers that Be as his liberating love set captive hearts free.
In our own time, when civil liberties are under attack, authoritarianism is on the rise, and imperial violence is taken for granted, we need Jesus’ shocking path of liberating love more than ever. As we follow Jesus’ early ministry throughout the Epiphany season, we’ll hear his call to wake up.
Together, we’ll explore what it takes to embody the kind of love that brings real good news to those in need. We'll discover how to embody our gifts as tools for liberation. And we’ll learn how to see through the clouds of foregone conclusions to welcome God’s just world for all.
